What's New
*The WA Social Worker of the Year Awards 2010 nominations are now open.
Information for how to nominate and the nomination form can be downloaded below. Both documents can also be downloaded from the Awards website at http://swoty.wordpress.com/
The Awards patron, Jan Stewart CEO Lotterywest, invites you to nominate outstanding social workers for all the Awards categories.
....As Patron of the WA Social Worker of the Year Awards I am pleased to launch the 2010
call for nominations across the five categories of these Awards. In addition to the
four categories from last year focusing on rural and remote practice, recent
graduates, change agents and more experienced practitioners, this year sees the
introduction of an Award for an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Social Worker.
The 2009 Awards successfully recognised the wide ranging, creative and the useful contributions
made by all the social workers nominated for an award to the quality of life of
individuals, families and the wider West Australian community. The calibre of the
finalists and winners for 2009 was most impressive, demonstrating the innovative
practice undertaken by our social work profession. I look forward to another year
of inspiring entries. I believe it is very important that we acknowledge the members
of our profession and publicly recognise the often unrecognised stories of caring
and courage which our colleagues demonstrate. I encourage people from all walks
of life to nominate a social worker: a social worker making an outstanding
contribution in their work for clients, community and the social work profession...
